The City Council of this city met in regular session on tha' above date with
the following members of the council being present. Aldermen: M.F. Allen,
A.D. Boyd, W.P. Poor, R.S. Posey, R.V. Groves., Mayor J.H. Edgington., and
Sect. W.W. Housewright.
The minutes of the September meeting were read and approved.
The secretrary was instructed to pay the Wylie Development Co. $ice
$1125.00 for the payment due them on Nov. 1, 1954. There is to be one more
payment in 1955.
There was a lengthy discussion in regard to Mr. Ray Brooks and the City Marshall's
job, with the following action being, taken. A motion was made by R./. Posey and
second by A.D. Boyd that the City hire Mr. Brooks at a salary of $245.00 per
month, and that he would have to pay any help that was hired on his night off.
He was to assure his duties on Nov. 1, 1954. Motion Carried.
There was a discussion in regard to the Lake offered the City by Mr. J.I. Bostic
as a park site. This lake being the one next to the Wylie Cemetary on the South
side. The following action was taken. Mayor J.H. Edgington appointed the following
men to look into this property and see where the lines would be and how much land
would accompany the lake. The appointed men were P .F. Allen, A.D. Boyd and
R.V. Groves.
With no further business the council adjourned.
