At a regular meeting of tre City Council on the above date all members of the
council except Alderman Green was present.
The minutes of the May meeting were read and approved.
Mr. Cotton and Mr. Bentley of the engineering firm of Forrest and Cotton met
with the council, and Two gentlemen by the name of Jackson from the First
Soutrwest 6ompany also met with the Council.
There was a lengthy discussion carried on by the council and Mr. Cotton in
regard to the needs and cost of sewage and water improvements. The following
action was taken in regard to this matter. A motion was made by R.R. Richardson
and second by R.V. Groves to the effect that the city employ the firm of
Forrest and Cotton for engineering services in connection with the
proposed waterworks and sewage improvemtn program. This is to include a 15
year master plan to provide for itrojected pm growth and to include a
water rate study and recomendations for any change. This is ix also to include
immediate plans. The foe for their services is to be 6 % payable 10 upon
completion of the prelimiary study and report. The balance of 4 to be paid
as engineering services progresses. The first payment is to be $750.00 when
the City is presented with the the survey and plans. Motion carried.
Mr. Decker Jackson with the First Southwest Oompedy told the city that he
felt sure that the City would be able to vote approximately $135,000.00
worth of combination tax and revenue bonds. The following action was taken
in regard to this matter. A motion was made by A.D. Boyd and seconed by
M.F. Allen that the city accept the proposal of the First Southwest
Company in regard to handling the financing for the city. Motion carried.
