The City council of this city met in regular session on the above da`e with
all members of the council except alderman Green being present.
The minutes of the December meeting were read and approved.
There was a discussion led by alderman Richardson in regard to the alley in
back of the business district an the west side of Ballad. Mr. Richardson stated
that Vilbig Bros. Construction Go. would build a It concrete tales, furnishing
all materials and labro necessary for the sum of $1423.00. The following action
was taken in regard to this matter. A motion was made by R.V. Groves and seconed
by A.D. Boyd that the city have this work done. Motion carried.
There was a bond election discussion with the following action being taken.
A motion was made by R.B. Richardson and seconed by R.V. Groves that a canvass
on the election returns shows that each of the propositions carried by a
majority vote, and it is thereforedeclared that these propositions have
carried. An official talley of election is attached hereto. Motion carried.
A discussion in regard to the closing of the alley and selling it to J.L. Bostic
in the south part of town was held. It was decided that Mr. Craft, the property
owner next to Mr. Bostic give his approval in this matter.before any official
action be taken, �_..
A discussion in regard to the abolishing of the office of City Marshall was held.
The following action was taken in regard to this matter. A motion was made by
R.V. Groves and Reconed by R.B. Richardson that this office he abolished and the
appointive office of Chief of Police km replace same. Motion carried.
Mr. Roland Boyd, attorney for the City met with the council and offered the following
proposition. He or one of his associat4d will meet with the council on at least
one councillmeeting each month, and render any seri#ce that is necessary for a
fee of $50.00 per month. A motion was made by R.V. Grove& and seconed by R.B.
Richardson that this Proposition be accepted. Motion carried.
With no further business the council adjourned.
