Aug. 23, 1956
The city council of this city met in regular session on the above date
with all members of the council being present, except Mayor D.W. Click
and Alderman M.B. Richardson.
There was a discussion in regard to the water & sewerage easement under
the G.C. & S.F. Railroad. Since there would be a delay of many days in
getting this through the regular channel the following action was taken.
A motion was made by R.V. Groves and seconed by M.F. Allen that the Cijor
officials stg notify the G.C. & S.F. Railroad officials that they would
sign the easement or agreement with the exceptions of section 8 at a later
date. In doing this we were informed that the Railroad would grant us
permission in crossing their property. Motion Carried.
A lengthy letter was read that the City had received from Mr. Hal Mullins
manager and operator of the R.L. Mullins Lumber Co. There were many com-ments
and much conversation in regard to this communication, but no action was taken
in regard to this matter.
There was a lengthy discission in regard to the city appointing a number of
auxiliary policemen that would only act in emergency or on special occasions.
The Chief of police was instructed to get more information in regard to this
matter before any action would be taken.
The chief of police ask that his pay be raised, but no action was taken in
regard to this matter.
There was a lengthy discussion in regard to the water superintendent and the
objection that various council members had to offer. The water and sewerage
committee was to try to work this situation out.
With no further business the council adjourned.
